Abu Dhabi – Mubasher: UAE government deposits in local banks rose by 18% or AED 28.3 billion in January, according to data released by the Central Bank of the UAE late Wednesday.
Government deposits amounted to AED 185.7 billion in January, compared to AED 157.4 billion in January 2016.
On the monthly level, deposits declined 0.6% or AED 1.1 billion, compared to AED 186.8 billion in December.
Issued currency reached AED 77.2 billion in January, 0.5% down from AED 77.6 million in December.
Cash at banks decreased in January by 15% or AED 2.3 billion, reaching AED 13 billion, versus AED 15.3 billion in December.
