Cairo – Mubasher: The construction and engineering works at the Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM) are 96% complete, the Middle East News Agency (MENA) reported on Wednesday, citing the general supervisor of the GEM project Atef Moftah as saying.
Works have been disrupted due to the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak which led to the halt of operations by foreign companies, he added.
Moftah expressed his hopes that all works will be completed by the end of 2020 as planned.
So far, the GEM has received about 54,000 artifacts, 95% of which are ready to be displayed.
