Kuwait – Mubasher: Gulf Insurance Group on Monday said that its case with the Ministry of Health does not contradict contract conditions, as it is about insurance claims.
The company’s statement to the Kuwait Stock Exchange (KSE) came as a response to a story published in a local newspaper on 7 September stating the contrary.
The newspaper reported that the ministry had signed insurance contracts with Gulf Insurance despite its having legal issues worth millions of Kuwaiti dinars.
The Kuwait-listed company noted that the dispute was regarding the sum of KWD 1.89 million to be paid by the company to the ministry, added to paying the ministry’s dues for the health insurance claims for people arriving in Kuwait.
The insurance group has paid KWD 8.3 million to the ministry on regular basis since the beginning of the contract, according to the KSE filing.
Gulf Insurance also stated that the case will not impact its financial position as it has allocated enough provisions since the case began.
