HSBC boosts presence in UAE with new branch

Abu Dhabi – Mubasher: Banking giant HSBC on Wednesday announced the opening of its new branch in the international financial centre in Abu Dhabi, Abu Dhabi Global Market (ADGM), after obtaining a licence by the Financial Services Regulatory Authority (FSRA) of ADGM.

“The UAE is one of HSBC Group’s eight scale markets, alongside Hong Kong and the UK, where we are investing to fulfil our growth ambitions and being present in ADGM’s vibrant financial services ecosystem will enhance HSBC’s ability to serve clients in Abu Dhabi,” Abdulfattah Sharaf, Group general manager and CEO of HSBC Middle East, commented.

The newly opened branch will support the bank’s presence in the UAE, the UK-based lender said in a statement.

It will also allow the British banking group to introduce advisory services to institutional clients from the international financial centre.

It is worth noting that the UAE is considered the home for HSBC’s headquarters in the Middle East, North Africa and Turkey (MENAT) region.
