Riyadh – Mubasher: Saudi transport minister Nabeel Al Amudi on Sunday announced that operation dates for the Haramein train and the King Abdulaziz International Airport were close, highlighting that these projects were among the Kingdom’s Vision 2030.
Speaking at an event in Makkah on Sunday, the top official said that 2018 would be a turning point for Saudi Arabia’s transport sector, particularly for the Makkah region with the commencement of commercial operations for these two massive projects, tweets by the Makkah Authority indicated via Twitter.
The minister stated that the Haramein train, which began trial runs in November, was set to begin commercial operation in the third quarter of 2018. It is forecast to handle up to 60 million travellers per year.
As for the King Abdulaziz International Airport, Al Amudi revealed that the airport was set to see up to 50 million travellers per year, with the first stage of operation to begin this month.
