Heavyweights drag QSE lower at close

Doha – Mubasher: The Qatar Stock Exchange’s (QSE) main index ended Thursday’s session falling by 0.13% or 13.66 points to the level of 10,438.45 points.

The drop was due to the decrease in some blue chips as Al Khalij Bank declined 2.48%, Ooredoo slid 1.42%, Commercial Bank of Qatar retreated 1.33%, Ezdan dropped 0.58% and Doha Bank fell 0.13%.

Trading volume decreased to 5.23 million shares from 6.13 million shares exchanged on Wednesday, while turnover increased to QAR 223.34 million from QAR 198.32 million.

The telecom and transportation sectors declined by 1.4% and 1% respectively, the real estate sector fell 0.6% as Barwa shrank 0.9%.

On the other hand, the consumer goods and services, insurance, banking and industrial sectors rose by 0.8%, 0.5%, 0.31% and 0.01% respectively.
