Heavyweights drive DFM back to red at open

Dubai – Mubasher: The Dubai Financial Market turned back to red in Wednesday’s early trading due to the negative performance by heavyweights, topped by Arabtec, Emaar and Dubai Islamic Bank.

The benchmark index dipped 3% or 81.9 points, reaching the level of 2,684 points.

The banks sector led losers with a fall of 2.04%, as Amlak Finance and Dubai Islamic Bank moved down by 5% and 3.8% respectively.

The real estate sector shed 3.56% hurt by Drake and Scull, Arabtec and Emaar which lost 6.3%, 4.3% and 3.4%, respectively.

The telecom and investment sectors also dropped by 1.95% and 5.25%, as Etisalat slipped 1.95% and Dubai investments slid by 6.5%.

Turnover came to AED 114.7 million as 106.85 shares were traded through 1,770 transactions.
