Hitachi ABB deploys Egypt's first fully engineered power quality system

Cairo – Mubasher: Hitachi ABB Power Grids will provide the Egyptian Electricity Transmission Company (EETC) with a grid stabilisation technology to boost transmission capacity and enhance power quality in the Owainat development area in southwest Egypt.

Egypt’s first fully engineered power quality system, based on a 200-megavolt ampere (MVAR) STATCOM, will be connected to the existing 220 kilovolt (kV) Owainat substation, supporting grid expansion and rural development through a stable power grid, according to a statement on Monday.

The project will help Egypt achieve its goals of land reclamation and community development in the Owainat development area.
