Hotel revenue in UAE’s capital hits AED 1.7bn in Q1

UAE – Mubasher: The hotel establishment revenues in Abu Dhabi grew 16.1% year-on-year to AED 1.7 billion ($460 million) in the first quarter of 2019.

The number of hotel establishments in the emirate, including hotels and hotel apartments, increased to 169 by the end of March, while the number of hotel rooms rose 5.1% YoY to 33,074 in Q1-19, the Statistics Centre- Abu Dhabi’s (SCAD) data showed, according to the Emirates News Agency (WAM).

“The growth is reflective of the high performance of the sector since the beginning of the year and the increasing tourist volume in the UAE capital thanks to its integrated infrastructure and multi-faceted sightseeing attractions,” WAM reported.

Hotel guests increased to 1.291 million from January to the end of March from 1.285 million in the comparative period in 2018.

Meanwhile, hotel occupancy in Abu Dhabi reached 79% in Q1-19, against 78% the year before.

“SCAD attributed the revenue growth to the robust tourist infrastructure boasted by Abu Dhabi in terms of attractive recreational facilities and rates,” the Emirati news agency stated.
