Huawei mulls telecom projects in Egypt’s transport sector

Cairo – Mubasher: The Egyptian transport ministry is considering collaboration with China-based Huawei Technologies Co to develop the telecommunication systems of Egypt’s transport sector.

The Chinese company is interested in investing in the Egyptian transport sector and is currently studying a number of projects, according to a statement by the transport ministry.

The ministry aims at developing the transport sector’s telecom system, including railroad, underground, river transport, maritime transport, and roads, transport minister Kamel El-Wazir said.

There are many awards that Huawei can compete for installing the microwave network at the railway, El-Wazir added.

On Sunday, the Egyptian telecommunication and information technology minister stated that Huawei would launch the first 5G network services trial in Egypt at the Cairo International Stadium during the period of hosting the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations.
