IHG’s voco brand debuts in Egypt

Cairo - Mubasher: UK-based InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) has signed a management agreement with Arab International Tourism Investment Company to launch the voco brand in Egypt, with the development of voco Giza Pyramids.

Spanning 17,000 square metres, the new hotel is scheduled to open in 2022, the British hospitality group said in a press release.

The new hotel is part of a mixed-use development that will include a high-end mall, IHG pointed out.

The voco brand has been launched in June 2018 and debuted in the Middle East in December 2018.

Located in close proximity to the Grand Egyptian Museum and the main entrance of the Pyramids, the voco Giza Pyramids features 230 rooms, serving both business and leisure travellers, according to the press.

The new-build hotel is a 15-minute drive from the newly opened Sphinx International Airport and is 30-minutes far from the city centre, IHG said.

The hotel will also feature an outdoor pool, a health club and spa, and multiple dining options, as well as 861-square metre meeting space.

Pascal Gauvin, managing director of IHG India, Middle East and Africa, said, “We are excited to be adding our newly launched brand to our Egypt portfolio, debuting the voco brand, in partnership with Arab International Tourism Investment Company.”

He added that the Egyptian capital “has always been a primary market for us, and we have maintained a strong presence in the city, with over 2000 rooms across three brands, and a strong pipeline. We look forward to further catering to our guests, providing them with the freshness of a unique hotel with the guarantee of an upscale experience.”

IHG also unveiled it currently operates 88 hotels across five brands in the Middle East that are set to open within the next three to five years.

These brands are InterContinental Hotels & Resorts, Crowne Plaza Hotels & Resorts, Holiday Inn, Holiday Inn Express, and Staybridge Suites.
