IMF’s first payout to Egypt at $2.5 billion – Official

Cairo – Mubasher: The International Monetary Fund's initial loan tranche payment to Egypt will stand at around $2.5 billion, according to Masood Ahmed, director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) Middle East and Central Asia department.

Ahmed hoped to secure the IMF board’s approval for the program within the next month.

There is a “good progress" in talks with China, Saudi Arabia and G7 governments to provide about $5 billion to $6 billion of additional funds needed for the program's first year, the IMF official told journalists
