Cairo – Mubasher: The International Monetary Fund (IMF) is to conduct the final review of a $12 billion loan programme provided to Egypt in June, Egyptian finance minister Mohamed Maait stated on Tuesday.
The IMF said earlier that it was disbursing the $2 billion penultimate tranche of the loan.
In January, the IMF managing director Christine Lagarde stated that she would recommend the approval of the fourth review of Egypt’s $12 billion loan programme.
Lagarde noted that Egypt’s government has made a good effort in decreasing the country’s budget deficit and unemployment.
