In Pictures…Dubai Mall breaks Guinness World Record with biggest festive ornament

Dubai – Mubasher: Record-breaking seems to be a trademark in the Arab world lately, but Dubai tends to take centre stage when it comes to that arena.

On that line, the Dubai Mall on Sunday announced breaking the Guinness World Record with the World’s Largest Christmas Bauble Ornament.

Almost 6.597 metres in height and 4.689 metres wide, the massive Christmas ornament weighs 1,100 kilograms, according to the emirate’s top retail and shopping destination.

“The metallic bauble ornament was bespoke made for Dubai Mall’s festive campaign by American design firm Venue Arts,” the Dubai Mall revealed, indicating that oversized piece took two days to assemble and hoist.

Dubai Mall visitors can view the Guinness World Record breaker at the Star Atrium, where it part of a composition of five giant ornaments.

Combined the giant ornaments create “an impressive display of shimmering festivity for the world to see.”
