India’s Essel to launch cruise line to UAE, Oman ports in April

Mubasher: Indian-based Essel Group’s Zen Cruises will launch the country’s first cruise line heading to Abu Dhabi, Dubai and Muscat in April.

“Jalesh” or “Lord of Waters” Cruises will begin its first sail from the Indian city of Mumbai, carrying 2,000 passengers, after a naming ceremony, Arabian Business reported, citing a report by India’s Economic Times newspaper.

Essel Group’s owner, billionaire businessman Subhash Chandra, aims to invest over $100 million in the cruise business, the report added.

The cruises will offer excursions across Indian port cities including Chennai, Kochi, and Mumbai, as well as international locations in the Gulf region including Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Muscat and Ras Al Khaimah.

“Jalesh Cruises will be a wholesome experience to cruisers who will get the best of culinary experiences, accommodation, wellness and retail therapy, adventure and entertainment, adventure and entertainment, all packed together in one exotic vacation,” Zen Cruises CEO Jurgen Bailom said.

The Indian-based company aims to attract one million Indian customers by 2025.
