India’s Larsen and Toubro wins electricity deals in 3 GCC states

Mubasher: India’s Larsen and Toubro (L&T) has announced that its construction arm has been awarded several power-related contracts in three GCC countries.

The contracts, awarded in Dubai, Saudi Arabia, and Oman, entail an engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) contract for 115 kilovolt (kV) substations with “associated transmission lines and cable circuits” in Saudi Arabia, L&T revealed in a statement to the Bombay Stock Exchange.

In Dubai, L&T’s construction unit won a contract to deliver 132kV cable works for a substation in the emirate.

It is worth noting that the deals were part of a larger contract worth $298.7 million, L&T said, noting that it had received another unspecified extra-high voltage substation award from a “reputed” customer in Oman.

As for its local business in India, L&T said it secured a contract to build 235MW of solar photovoltaic power projects in Tamil Nadu and Rajasthan.

“A one of its kind solar photovoltaic plan, floating on a reservoir, will be implemented in Chittoor district of Andhra Pradesh, as part of Tirupati Smart City mission,” L&T said in its bourse filing.

In July, L&T’s construction arm won a deal for a “tourism-related facility” in Muscat, Oman as part of a series of deals totalling $438.5 million.
