Mubasher: India’s Indigo Airlines has announced plans to launch a third destination in the UAE from India starting Monday.
Indigo will commence daily flights from Calicut and Kochin to Abu Dhabi, chief operating office Will Boulter told Arabian Business.
The UAE capital marks the third destination in the UAE, after Dubai and Sharjah. The move will facilitate travel from the Indian market.

“We expect there will be expansion at Dubai as well in the future, but under the current flight rights we have, operating out of the three main airports is how we’ve chose to progress for the time being,” Boulter stated, adding that Indigo was also planning “to add additional frequencies in the future.”
The low-cost Indian carrier currently operates 17 flights to the UAE, 13 of which are to Dubai, while the remaining four are to the emirate of Sharjah.
The addition of Abu Dhabi to Indigo Airlines’ destinations follows several international additions including London, Hong Long, and the Maldives. International flights make up around 15% of Indigo’s overall operations.
