Individuals exchange $30bn at banks since flotation - CBE

Cairo – Mubasher: The Central Bank of Egypt's (CBE) governor Tarek Amer on Tuesday announced that individuals' exchanges of the US dollar and foreign currencies have reached $30 billion since the floating the exchange rate in November 2016.

Meanwhile, the total value of new deposits has so far amounted to EGP 200 billion due to the progress achieved in the economic reform programme, Amer added during a press conference in Sharm El Sheikh.

On another note, Amer announced that the banks' law is under discussion by the CBE's board of directors, adding that the new appointments of government banks' heads had been approved by the Cabinet and will be announced soon.
