Riyadh – Mubasher: Inflation in Saudi Arabia recorded its highest increase since December 2018, as the consumer price index (CPI) increased in March 2020 by 1.5% on a yearly basis.
This is the third consecutive rise in annual inflation, after 12 declines in a row last year, and after a 1.2% increase in February, according to data by the Saudi General Authority for Statistics (GaStat).
Food and beverages, as well as transport, contributed the most to this increase, given their significant weights in the index, with their average prices rising by 3.9% and 3.7%, respectively.
On the other hand, the average prices of housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels declined by 0.5%.
The CPI increased by 0.1% compared to the previous month.
