Internet subscribers in MEA set to rise – Report

Dubai – Mubasher: The number of Internet subscribers across the Middle East and Africa region is expected to rise by a compound annual growth rate of 21.9% by 2019, showed a report issued by PwC Middle East.

The international smartphone connections are set to double to 3.85 billion in 2019 from 2 billion in 2014, added the report.

MEA mobile internet subscribers are expected to grow at a CAGR of 21.9% from 2014 to 2019. Globally, mobile internet advertising spend is forecasted to surpass display by 2018, growing at a CAGR of 23.1%, according to PwC.

Globally, mobile internet advertising is expected to surpass display advertising as early as 2018.

Total MEA spend will increase from $38.8 million in 2014 to $61.1 million in 2019, according to the report.

PwC added that Saudi Arabia is expected to have the highest film market revenue growth at a CAGR of 18.5% from 2014-2019, driven by OTT/streaming.
