Cairo - Decypha: A two-day symposium, organized by the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE), will be held in Basra, Iraq, from 15–16 March 2017, under the patronage of Jabbar Ali Hussein Al-Luiebi, the Minister of Oil.
The SPE Symposium themed “Iraq—The Petroleum Potentiality and Future of Energy” will focus on Iraq’s vision of future developments, targets for oil and gas exploration, oil production and exports, and the potential for the development of new cross-border fields and major downstream projects.
Key note speakers include the Minister of Oil, the Symposium Chairman Iqdam Al-Shadeedi, and the Director General of Reservoirs and Fields Development Directorate in the Iraqi Ministry of Oil.

Another important topic for discussion will be the aspiration to introduce a legal framework that governs the energy sector in all its aspects in addition to the role and responsibilities of the local governments to support the petroleum industry
The symposium is open to mid-level to C-level oil and gas professionals from multidisciplinary sectors including projects and facilities, production and operations, legal consultancies, contracts, risk assessment, finance and investment, government, policy and legislation, infrastructure, technology, drilling and completions, HSSE, IT, research and development, and reservoirs.
