Cairo – Mubasher: The Italian company Ansaldo Energia has started to carry out the third phase of Cairo Electricity Production Co’s (CEPC) 6 October power plant, official sources at CEPC told Almal News.
The third phase includes boosting the capacity of the plant to 900 megawatts from 600 megawatts, the sources added.
The 6 October power plant is executed under a turn-key contract with a capacity of 326 megawatts at a cost of EUR 246 million, the sources highlighted.
The sources noted that Ansaldo had completed the first and second phases of the plant.
On 6 July 2017, the Egyptian minister of electricity and renewable energy Mohamed Shaker announced raising electricity prices for households consuming to range between EGP 13 piastres and 135 piastre per kilowatt.
