Cairo – Mubasher: Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) will finance a solar power plant in Hurghada with $60 million, head of the New and Renewable Energy Authority (NREA) Mohamed El-Khayat told Alborsa News.
The NREA will launch a global tender to carry out this project by mid-2018, El-Khayat noted.
The execution of this plant was suspended for more than two years.
On 17 July 2016, the Egyptian parliament approved to obtain a $243 million loan from JICA to develop the efficiency of three electric utilities.
The Egyptian government had previously signed a consulting contract with JICA in October 2016 to supervise the implementation of the first phases of Cairo Metro Line 4.
