Jafza construction sector grows 14%

Mubasher: Dubai’s Jebel Ali Free Zone (Jafza) saw an increase in the number of registered companies in the building and construction sector by 14% from June 2015 to June 2016, a press release on Sunday showed.

The growth is backed by the continued focus of GCC countries on developing infrastructure and the economic stimulus driven by the projects of Expo 2020 in Dubai.

Jafza will also take part in “the Big 5 Dubai” to be held from 21 to 24 November to reinforce its position as the region’s leading business and logistics hub and to highlight more opportunities in the GCC’s rapidly growing construction market.

The construction sector in the MENA region is expected to accelerate over the next 10 years reaching $313 billion by 2020 and $467 billion by 2025, compared to $215 billion in 2016, according to a recent industry report by BMI Research, Jafza’s deputy CEO and chief commercial Ibrahim Aljanahi said.

“Jafza is currently home to over 961 of the world’s leading steel, building material and construction sector companies”, he added.
