Jafza posts 10% rise in number of Indian firms

Dubai-Mubasher: Jebel Ali Free Zone (Jafza) conducted a 4-day roadshow in Mumbai to attract more Indian multinationals into the Free Zone.

Jafza is now a home to over 800 leading Indian firms, the statement said, adding that the number of Indian companies grew 10% in 2014 in the Free Zone.

The roadshow focused on huge opportunities for Indian multinationals in the Middle Eastern fast-growing markets, which must be taken advantage of.

“Most of the countries in the Middle East region are currently focused on diversifying their economies in order to reduce their dependence on oil," said Sultan Ahmed Bin Sulayem, Chairman of DP World and Ports, Customs and Free Zone Corporation.

He added that these countries are estimated to be spending more than $4 trillion in developing economic infrastructure suitable for nurturing non-oil business activities.
