Dubai – Mubasher: The number of companies operating in Jebel Ali Free Zone (Jafza) rose 8% on annual basis in the past five years.
Dubai Customs’ Chairman, Sultan Ahmed Bin Sulayem, said that firms from Middle East formed 44% of the total number of companies, followed by Asia and Pacific (23%), Europe (21%) Americas and Africa (6% for each).
In terms of countries, UAE owned the lion’s share with 35% of the total number of companies, followed by India and UK with 9% and 6% respectively.
Jafza expected a double-digit growth in the construction sector during the next three or four years.
