Japan’s indices record first rise in 2016

Mubasher: Japan’s indices closed Wednesday on a positive note, witnessing their first rise in the new year after six declines in a row.

The Nikkei Index was up by 2.88% to 17,715.63 points, the Broader TOPIX Index climbed 2.9% to 1,442.76 points and the JPX-Nikkei Index 400 jumped 2.9% to 12,986.76 points.

As they bounced off the red territory, the Japanese stocks shrugged off the 3% month-on-month decline in money supply in last December, which followed a deeper 3.3% loss in November, according the figures released by the Central Bank of Japan on Wednesday.
