Mubasher: Stocks on Tokyo Stock Exchange moved lower as the yen rose against the dollar and the global markets declined.
The benchmark Nikkei fell 0.8% to 16,642, and the broad TOPIX lost 1.1% to 1,332.
At 0900GMT, the yen rose by nearly 0.08% to 113 per dollar.
