Japan stocks close lower

Mubasher: Japan stocks extended their decline for the second straight day on Wednesday amid the continued rise in yen.

Nikkei fell 2.3% to 15,713 points, its lowest since October 2014.

The broad TOPIX dropped 3.02% to 1,264.

The yen rose by 0.4% against the dollar in Wednesday's early trading.

Technical analyst Mohamed Alshmemri said the decline in Japan stocks was due to the fact that investors seek to avoid risky assets amid worries about global economic slowdown.

He added that the fluctuation in global markets and yen rise were also behind Wednesday's fall.
