Mubasher: Asian countries were ranked first as the top importers of Qatari exports, led by Japan, during the third quarter of 2018.
Asian countries acquired 80.4% of Qatar’s exports at a value of QAR 79.82 billion ($21.95 billion), according to a report by the Ministry of Development Planning and Statistics.
Qatar’s imports from Asian countries accounted for 33% of total imports recorded QAR 29.96 billion ($8.24 billion) in Q3-18, the report added.
The Qatari trade surplus soared by 108.9% to QAR 54.3 billion ($14.94 billion), whereas trade exchange with Asian countries stood at QAR 74.1 billion ($20.38 billion).
Japan came in the first spot among Qatar’s export destinations with exports valued at QAR 13.9 billion, followed by South Korea and India with exports worth QAR 12.6 billion and QAR 11.2 billion, respectively.
Meanwhile, China topped Qatar’s import destinations among its Asian peers with imports valued at QAR 3.4 billion, followed by India and Japan with imports worth QAR 1.9 billion and QAR 1 billion, respectively.
