Japan trade deficit with KSA rises 61% in September

Riyadh – Mubasher: The balance of trade (BOT) between Japan and Saudi Arabia showed a 61% year-on-year increase in deficit for Japan in September, according to data released by the Japanese Ministry of Finance (MoF) on Thursday.

Japan’s trade deficit with Saudi Arabia rose to JPY 170.9 billion (SAR 5.7 billion) in September from JPY 106.1 billion (SAR 3.5 billion) in the comparative period of 2016, according to the Japanese MoF’s data.

Japanese exports to Saudi Arabia reached JPY 41.7  billion (SAR 1.4 billion last month, marking a slight decline of 4.4% from JPY 43.6  billion (SAR 1.5  billion) in the year-ago period.

On the other hand, Saudi Arabia’s exports to Japan hit JPY 212.5  billion (SAR 7.1 billion) in September, against JPY 149.7 billion (SAR 4.99 billion) in September 2016, registering a 41.7% growth.
