Japanese stocks up as oil prices rise

Mubasher: Japanese stocks closed in the green on Monday, mainly backed by the rise of oil prices.

Japan’s Nikkei 225 gained 0.90% to end at 17,110 points. Tokyo’s broader Topix index rose 1.3% to reach 1,392 points.

The Bank of Japan has "further room to expand" its monetary easing, the bank’s Governor Haruhiko Kuroda said on Friday.

Japan’s exports fell the most in more than three years in December, declining 8% year-on-year.
