Jazan refinery to begin operation in a year – Al Falih

Riyadh – Mubasher: Saudi Arabia’s energy, industry, and mineral resources minister Khalid Al Falih said he expects operations at Jazan oil refinery to commence within a year, Okaz newspaper reported on Sunday.

Al Falih noted that such projects are in line with the energy, industry, and mineral resources strategy within the National Transformation Program 2020.

The refinery is located in Jazan Economic City.

Around seven new investment projects, with total investments of SAR 16 billion, in the economic city are in the petrochemical, pharmaceutical, steel, and concrete sectors, according to the Saudi newspaper.

Al Falih had previously stated that there were around SAR 320 billion ($85.3 billion) investment opportunities available in the sector until 2020.
