Jeddah fire breaks out; no casualties

Riyadh – Mubasher: A fire broke out early Monday in north Jeddah and resulted in power outages in several parts of the city. No one was hurt in the blaze.

Civil defense teams rushed to the scene and put the fire out, Saudi Gazette reported.

The fire which broke out at a transmission station caused disruption in several districts in the northern and western parts of Jeddah, Saeed Al-Sarhan, spokesman of Civil Defense in the Makkah region told the newspaper.

Saudi Civil Defense authorities have begun investigating the cause of the fire.

Meanwhile, the Saudi Electricity Co. (SEC) apologised to its Jeddah customers, citing “some technical failure of the electric network,” the newspaper said.

Power services were restored within 20 minutes.
