Riyadh – Mubasher: Jeddah’s hotel capacity has increased to 100,000 guests per night and to around 3 million guests a month, the Saudi Commission for Tourism and National Heritage (SCTH) said.
The Saudi city’s higher hotel capacity was attributed to growing tourist investments in the hospitality sector over the previous period, the state-run tourism body added.
Jeddah boasts of having 122 hotels, 19 hotel apartments, four resorts, 767 residential units, three hotel villas, and eight tourist hostels with 44,207 rooms and suites and with a capacity of 99,908 beds sufficient for 99,000 guests, the SCTH’s general manager in Makkah said.
Jeddah currently has 20 five-star hotels and 23 four-star hotels, Mohammad Al Amri told the Saudi Press Agency (SPA).
In the same vein, Al Amri explained that Jeddah’s three-, two-, and one-star hotels reached 42, 26, and 11, respectively.
The Saudi official noted that Jeddah-based hotels are currently hosting 34,769 guests per night and 1.1 million visitors on a monthly basis.
Over the course of 2018, the average occupancy rate in Jeddah hotels hit 56% and around 60% in other accommodation facilities.
