Jordan’s real estate deals down 2% in 2015

Mubasher: Jordan’s real estate deals dropped by 2% year-on-year to JOD 7.61 billion in 2015, versus JOD 7.76 billion 2014, according to official data.

Figures released by the state’s department of lands and survey showed an 11% fall in revenues  y/y to JOD 377 million, compared to JOD 426 million in 2014.

The Jordanian cabinet earlier approved the exemption from registration fees of all residential units located on areas less than 150 square meters. Exemptions value reached JOD 120 million in 2015, making a 47% surge.

Non-Jordanian sales slipped 14% to JOD 423.2 million in 2015.

Iraqis were the top sellers making JOD 215.1 million deals which accounted for 51% of the total foreign sales and the Saudis came in second with JOD 66.4 million. Kuwaitis made JOD 22.9 million worth of sales, followed by Syrians and Yemenis at JOD 17.5 million and JOD 17.3 million, respectively.
