Mubasher: Jordan reported a 2.8% year-on-year increase in trade deficit to JOD 3.84 billion ($5.42 billion), in the first five months of 2016, according to the report issued by the Jordanian Department of Statistics on Monday.
A Trade deficit is the amount by which the cost of a country's imports exceeds the value of its exports.
Trade deficit levelled up as a result of a 5.6% decline in exports totalling JOD 2.05 billion ($2.89 billion), and a slight rise of 0.3% in imports reaching JOD 5.89 billion, the report indicated.
Jordan’s trade deficit went up 10.3% by the end of the first four months of 2016, compared to the same period last year.
