Mubasher: Kuwait Oil Tanker Company (KOTC) on Tuesday received the giant liquefied natural gas (LNG) tanker, Umm Ruwaisat, to signal the company’s fourth milestone of a major fleet overhaul, Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) reported on Tuesday citing the company’s deputy CEO Ali Shehab.
The fourth phase of the fleet development includes the delivery of eight tankers of which three are giant LNG tankers built by Korea’s Hyundai Heavy Industries Co, in addition to four medium-term oil products tankers and a huge crude oil tanker currently being built in a Chinese firm.
With this new delivery, the Kuwaiti firm now owns 28 tankers of various sizes and purposes that meet the strategic needs and international marketing plans of the Kuwait Petroleum Corporation (KPC).
The new Umm Ruwaisat carrier has been built as per to top international standards compliant with international environmental protection criteria, the CEO added.
