KSA, Boeing strengthen ties after Trump visit

Riyadh – Mubasher: Saudi Arabia concluded deals worth $380 billion with Boeing during US President Donald Trump’s visit to Saudi Arabia on 20-21 May.

In reference to the defence and commercial agreements inked between the Kingdom and a number of US companies, Boeing chairman, president, and CEO Dennis Muilenburg stated: “These announcements reaffirm our commitment to the economic growth, prosperity, and national security of both Saudi Arabia and the US.”

In an interview with Arab News, the CEO said that this will strengthen the company’s partnership with Saudi Arabia, as well as create thousands of jobs in the US and the Kingdom, enhance national and regional security, and support Saudi’s Vision 2030 in building an indigenous aerospace industry and ecosystem.

Trump and US secretary of state Rex Tillerson signed a number of deals with King Salman, which included several Boeing products and services, including military and commercial aircrafts, services for military platforms, guided weapon systems, and vertical lift platforms.

“Boeing will support Saudi youth through the provision of progressive training programmes and build local capabilities that allow them to enhance their academic, personal, and professional skills, to become a skilled contributor and have a positive global impact,” Muilenburg stated.
