Riyadh – Mubasher: The Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia Mohammad Bin Salman said that North Sinai will be linked with Neom in accordance with the Egyptian-Saudi agreements signed last year.
These agreements signed between the Saudi King Salman bin Abdulaziz and the Egyptian president Abdel Fattah El-Sisi to develop an industrial zone around the Sinai peninsula were concluded with the new city in mind, Bin Salman told Bloomberg.
“The purpose of signing this free zone north of Sinai is to link it with Neom,” he highlighted, adding that “Neom will have a lot of ports. Some of them in Saudi Arabia and some of them in Egypt.”
The prince stressed that countries bordering the Red Sea, as well as Dubai, Bahrain, Kuwait, Egypt or Jordan, will benefit somehow from Neom city.
He further noted that Kuwait would be able to export to Europe promptly at cheaper costs from now on through oil pipelines or railways to Neom and to Egypt through North Sinai and then to Europe.
In April 2016, Egypt and Saudi Arabia had previously signed 17 cooperation agreements on the sidelines of King Salman's official visit to Cairo.
