KSA advises bigger private sector role to achieve UN goals

Riyadh - Mubasher: The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has expressed to the United Nations that it has spared no effort in developing its economy towards progress and prosperity.

During a meeting under the theme “Financing UN Sustainable Development Plan”, the Saudi deputy permanent representative to the United Nations (UN) Khalid Manzalawi expressed his thanks to the efforts being exerted by the committees and United Nations inter-agency task forces for their contribution to the achievement of the goals of sustainable development for 2030.

Manzalawi also said that Saudi Arabia's Vision 2030 aims to achieve the UN development goals, by encouraging and facilitating investment initiatives in human capital, infrastructure, education, health and alternative energy in order to diversify the economic base and enhance the social gains of the comprehensive development, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported.

Saudi Arabia's foreign aid channels are channeled through the Saudi Fund for Development, which funds development projects in developing countries through the provision of loans and the encouragement of national exports through financing and that the fund has a capital of $8.3 billion, and provides its contributions in the form of soft loans without regard to the geographical location and focuses on the financing of priority development projects, especially for poor countries.
