Riyadh - Mubasher: King Salman has earmarked a SAR 175 million per year for the favour of purchasing desalinated water from mobile plants.
The decision is part of Saudi Arabia’s plan to meet the rising demand for desalinated water, the Saudi Gazette reported.
This allocation will help increase the supply of desalinated water until finalising under construction finishing Saline Water Conversion Corporation’s (SWCC) projects, environment minister Abdulrahman Al-Fadhli said.
These mobile plants will be available at places such Jazan and Asir regions in an effort to enhance water supply in some regions across the kingdom, Al-Fadhli, who also serves as SWCC Chairman, added.
The plants use the reverse osmosis (RO) technology which provides electricity.
SWCC will invite companies to present their offers, according to the newspaper.
