KSA eyes SAR 28bn revenues from expats by 2018

Riyadh – Mubasher: The Saudi Ministry of Finance (MoF) forecast to raise SAR 28 billion revenues in 2018 after imposing fees on expatriate workers in the kingdom.

The initiative of implementing fees on expatriates aims to implement Saudisation by increasing the number of Saudi workers instead of foreign workers, the ministry added.

This initiative will be put into effect as of January 2018, with an annual increase by SAR 200.

Each expatriate will pay SAR 300 in any enterprise where expatriates are equal or less than Saudi personnal, and each expatriate will pay SAR 400 in case that expatriates’ number exceed Saudi workers.

In July, the Kingdom started collecting monthly fees from companions who are with expatriates with an annual rise of SAR 100.

Companions will pay SAR 100 in the first year, and SAR 200, SAR 300, and SAR 400, respectively in the coming years.

The non-Saudi workers amounted to 10.788 million, of which 8.34 million are under social insurance system, 65,000 persons for the public service, and 2.4 million persons under domestic labor, said the Saudi General Authority for Statistics (GASTAT).
