Riyadh - Mubasher: The Saudi ministry of commerce and investment announced on Saturday the issuance of 123,364 licenses for certificate of origin services electronically in 2016, according to a statement.
The number of licenses granted to the commercial sector amounted to 22,490 licenses, or 18% of the total licenses, while the number of industrial licenses totalled 100,874 licenses, which is equal to 82% of the total number, the ministry’s statement indicated.
The e-service launched by the Ministry last year enabled exporters and manufacturers to submit the request for certificate of origin electronically.
“This is part of the Ministry's keenness and endeavor to support the economic sectors in the Kingdom and to facilitate the relevant procedures,” the statement highlighted.
The certificate of origin is considered an official document granted by the ministry to the Saudi exporters and manufacturers, in order to prove that the goods, exported overseas, of national origin or acquired the status of a national product.
It is also considered a main factor to facilitate the export and to serve the manufacturers, the statement added.
According to the statement, the service comes within the e-services provided by the ministry in order to improve and organize the trade and investment environment in Saudi Arabia, in accordance with the Kingdom's Vision 2030.
