Riyadh – Mubasher: The gross domestic product (GDP) in current prices grew 2.46% to reach SAR 618.69 billion during the second quarter of 2017, compared to SAR 603.86 billion in the year-ago period, the Saudi General Authority of Statistics (GASTAT) on Saturday said.
Year-on-year, at the level of constant prices it decreased 1.03% to SAR 628.2 billion, from SAR 634.73 billion, the GASTAT added.
The GDP of the government sector increased 1.59% in Q2-17 in current prices, compared to Q2-16, while at the level of constant prices, it rose 0.99% compared to the corresponding period in 2016.
On a yearly basis, the private sector’s GDP increased in both current and constant prices levels at 0.44%, and 0.38%, respectively.
The oil sector’s GDP in current prices surged 10.05% during Q2-17, whereas it fell 1.76% at the level of constant prices, compared to the corresponding period in the year earlier.
