Riyadh – Mubasher: The Saudi Cost of Living Index (inflation) inched up 0.1% during November 2017, compared to the month earlier, after declining for ten consecutive months, the Saudi General Authority for Statistics (GASTAT) said on Tuesday.
Inflation’s growth was attributed to a year-on-year rise in tobacco section by 100% on the back of applying the selective tax, followed by education with 2.5%, telecommunications with 2.1%, miscellaneous goods and services with 1.1%, and health with 0.8%, the GASTAT added.
On the other hand, sections of clothing and footwear, transport, recreation and culture tumbled 2.4%, 2%, and 1.8%, respectively.
On a monthly basis, inflation edged up 0.1% to 137.6 points in November, compared to 137.5 points.
