KSA’s wholesale price index rises 0.5% in November – GASTAT

Riyadh – Mubasher: The Saudi Wholesale Price Index rose 0.5% year-on-year during November 2017, said on Wednesday the General Authority for Statistics (GASTAT).

The growth in the Kingdom’s inflation in wholesale prices was attributed to a 95.8% hike in tobacco products, followed by beverages with 40.6%, fabricated metal products with 4.7%, and basic metals with 4.2%, the GASTAT added.

On the other hand, the sections of ores and minerals, live animals and animal products, furniture, other transportable goods n.e.c, and rubber and plastics products went down 5.7%, 8.6%, 3.9%, and 2.6%, respectively.

On a monthly basis, the Saudi wholesale price index edged up 0.2% in November.

This monthly increase was due to a 2.7% rise in basic chemicals, followed by fish and other fishing products with 3.1%, fabricated metal products with 1.4%, and basic metals with 1.2%.

On the flipside, the ores and minerals shed 0.4% and food products, beverages, tobacco, and textiles fell 0.3% each.
