KSA telecom sector volume reaches SAR 180bn – CITC

Riyadh – Mubasher: The governor of Saudi Communications and Information Technology Commission (CITC), Abdulaziz Al Ruwais, said that the volume of the telecom sector in Saudi Arabia amounts to SAR 180 billion.

Al Ruwais added, on the sidelines of the inauguration of a commission's forum, that the capital investments' volume exceeds more than SAR 50 billion.

The governor expected that the spending volume would rise on the CITC's services to around SAR 138 billion by the end of 2017, due to the large investments in both public and private sectors.

He pinpointed that spending reached SAR 130 billion in 2016 and contributed to 6% of the gross domestic product and 10% of non-oil domestic product, according to Saudi Press Agency.

CITC made a strategic plan aims to boost the telecommunication sector to achieve the global competitiveness, Al Ruwais said.
