KSA to launch digital currency for interbank transaction

Riyadh – Mubasher: Ahmed Alkholifey, governor of the Saudi Arabian Monetary Authority (SAMA), on Wednesday announced a plan to replace the paper Saudi Riyal with a digital one.

The experimental digital currency will be used in interbank transactions, in an effort to cope with the international development in the sector, Alkholifey added.

The Saudi economy is likely to witness growth, SAMA officials said, noting that they are not concerned about the shrinking prices.
