Riyadh – Mubasher: Twelve Saudi engineers have participated in manufacturing two satellites that the Kingdom will receive by the end of 2018, said Lockheed Martin CEO in Saudi Arabia Alan Chinoda.
The two satellites were part of a transaction signed in 2015 with the oil-rich nation, Chinoda added.
Hellas Sat 41 and Arabsat A6 were completed and will be delivered to the Saudi government by the end of this year, Al Eqtisadiah newspaper reported, citing the CEO as saying during the Armed Forces Exhibition for Diversity of Requirements and Capabilities (AFED) 2018.
The agreements of manufacturing and launching the satellites with Lockheed Martin and Arianespace amounted to SAR 2.4 billion ($650 million), Chinoda added.
The Saudi engineers took a role in the manufacturing process, as well as they would participate in supporting and launching them from the Kingdom.
We are working on signed programmes and agreements worth $28 billion, which were part of the $110 billion deals inked by the US and Saudi Arabia when President Donald Trump visited Riyadh, Chinoda concluded.
